First Look: Star Wars - Episode VIII: The Last Jedi

Finally, the trailer for "The Last Jedi" has arrived. After it was announced last January, fans have been patiently waiting for a first look of Episode VIII of the Star Wars saga.

The images on the trailer depict a darker mood compared to "The Force Awakens" in 2015. The tone is attributed by some fans to the fact that the second film in each trilogy of the Star Wars saga nearly always has this feeling. (Empire Strikes Back . . .anyone?)

The first scene shows Rey (Daisy Ridley) clambering up, but what piques my interest is the background of the first scene. Check out the curve on the right shoulder of Rey, it appears similar to the curve of the hangar where an explosion happened right in front of Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and BB-8.

While it is mainly speculation, we will never know until more trailers will come out in the coming months. We also get to see a glimpse of Finn (John Boyega) recuperating in a healing chamber.

Another noteworthy scene on the trailer of "The Last Jedi" is the Millennium Falcon swooping in while blasting a TIE fighter out of the sky. I don't know about you, but the Falcon has always been my favorite spacecraft on the Star Wars saga with the X-Wing fighter coming in a close second.

"The Last Jedi" trailer also shows an R2 unit along with a hooded figure in front of burning rubble. Speculations have emerged indicating that this is a flashback of Luke (Mark Hamill) watching the Jedi Academy burning to the ground.

The trailer also shows a glimpse of Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), but it is interesting to note that he has a scar similar to the one Anakin Skywalker had before he became Darth Vader.

There are also scenes where Rey is going through Jedi training, such as one showing two persons on the side of a mountain with one wielding a lightsaber.

We also get to see Rey tapping into the Force.

But the most shocking part of the trailer is near the end where Luke says, "I only know one true thing, it's time for the Jedi to end."

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" is expected to hit the big screen on December 15, 2017.
